4th Phase: 8-12 Months

Children, including those with special health care needs, need a safe, loving home where they can have their social, emotional, and educational needs met. Spending time with family by playing, singing, reading, and talking is essential. Proper nutrition, exercise, and sleep also play a crucial role in ensuring healthy development for children of all abilities.

5th Phase: 1st Year

Skills such as taking a first step, smiling for the first time, and waving “bye-bye” are called developmental milestones. Developmental milestones are things most children can do by a certain age. Children reach milestones in how they play, learn, speak, behave, and move (like crawling, walking, or jumping).
