Health Environmentalist 1
The Lake Cumberland District Health Department is accepting applications for two full-time Health Environmentalist I positions.
1. Health Environmentalist 1 covering Casey County and the surrounding area as needed.
2. Health Environmentalist 1 covering Taylor County and the surrounding area as needed.
General Duties include: Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to: Perform work of moderate difficulty while receiving training in the application of environmental health programs and in the enforcement of regulations through formal classroom training and on-the-job experience. Perform duties with close monitoring by professional supervisory personnel until properly trained to perform functions independently. Perform regular inspections of tourist accommodations, schools, swimming pools to ensure compliance with state and local regulations pertaining to environmental health, this may include taking product samples and forwarding for testing. Secure water samples; investigate nuisance complaints and other duties related to environmental health. Inspect food establishments for compliance with state regulations pertaining to sanitation. Request assistance from supervisors in situations beyond his/her scope of training and experience. Interpret reports generated by the Environmental Health Management Information System (EHMIS)/Graphical Users Interface (GUI) system. Analyze and interpret data regarding test results, inspections results, etc. and present results to appropriate types of audiences.
Minimum Education, Training or Experience: Bachelor Degree from a college or university with a minor or twenty-four (24) semester hours in environmental health, biological or physical science or registration as a Kentucky Environmental Specialist/Sanitarian under KRS 223.
Special Requirements: Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
Note: an individual upon employment must become registered under the provisions of KRS 223 to remain a permanent employee per Administrative Regulations 902KAR 8:080.
Starting Salary: Grade 15 $19.80 hourly with 5% increase at successful completion of 6 month probationary period, 37.5 hours workweek M-F, paid Holidays, annual leave accrual, sick leave accrual, group life, health and dental insurance, flexible spending accounts, and retirement plans.

Community Health Liaison
The Lake Cumberland District Health Department is accepting applications for a Community Health Liaison in the JEP/ROPA programs covering Adair County and surrounding area. This is a grant-funded, non-Merit contractual position but does include benefits.
General Duties include: This position provides case management to those at risk for opioid use disorder and assists in planning and activities to address health priorities of a community by participating in community coalitions and other community groups, works with others to facilitate completion of planned activities, may make presentations to groups on topics related to community health projects, and participates in data collection relationships with organizations, agencies, individuals and others in the community in order to form partnerships to address health priorities.
Additional responsibilities for this position may include, but are not limited to; participate in community coalitions and other community groups planning goals and activities to address health priorities of a community. Work with others to facilitate completion of planned activities. Prepare and distribute press releases and conduct interviews with the media. Make presentations to groups on topics related to community health projects. Research for existing statistics on health indicators and participates in data collection when statistics are not available. Review publications and other appropriate materials and sources for further opportunities. Assist with completing applications for grants and other funding. Prepare or help review drafts of needed materials, contacts and build relationships with organizations, agencies, individuals and others in the community in order to form partnerships to address health priorities.
Minimum Education, Training or Experience: High School Diploma or GED and six (6) months experience in public health or in another position with the provision of social services, supportive services, personal care or related duties.
