LCDHD accepts applications for employment upon the advertisement of a job vacancy. Vacancies include the job requirements and duties. Application must be submitted to the Human Resources Office by the required deadline date. Nursing positions are an open register and applications are accepted on a continual basis without advertised vacancies.

Health Department employees are governed by the Local Health Merit System Personnel Regulations. Job application must be submitted through the LCDHD Human Resources Office. Eligibility for applicants will be determined by the Local Health Merit System in accordance with state regulations.

Local Health Nurse I

Requires an Associate degree or diploma from an accredited college, university, or school of nursing. Must have met all requirements of KRS 314.041, having received a provisional license and approval to practice as a Registered Nurse Applicant (RNA) or having a current active Kentucky Registered Nurse license. No previous nursing practice experience required, however preference will be given to applicants with at least one year of experience. $14.07/hr



Accepting applications for full time position to be based in Pulaski County.   Serve under the Health Education Director coordinating a three year grant.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Promote policy development; develop and implement activities for community education such as presentations in classrooms, community groups and/or agencies; topics include Nutrition, Physical Activity, Tobacco, Safety and general health education and promotion. Establish a working relationship with community members and become familiar with available community resources.  Assist in exchanging information with various organizations and agencies concerning health needs of the community and assist in assembling materials to be utilized.  Gather health information for the public relative to the specialized program.  Distribute health education materials by a variety of methods.  Participate as a team member.  Demonstrate an awareness of public service announcements (PSA) and assist in writing public service announcements for radio and television.  Collect and analyze data for health program needs.

Requirements: graduate of a college or university with a Bachelor Degree. Must have 1 year of health related or education experience.  Master’s Degree, Bachelor’s Degree or professional license in health or human services fields will substitute for 1 year experience required.  Beginning salary $12.15 per hour.  Excellent fringe benefits.
