1. Health Educator I (Transcript Submission Required)

The Lake Cumberland District Health Department is currently accepting applications for a full-time Health Educator I based within the Western part of the District (Adair, Clinton, Cumberland, Green, Taylor).

General Duties Include but are not limited to:

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to: Schedule and facilitate comprehensive healthy lifestyle and risky behaviors prevention programs within academic school settings. Attend orientation and training sessions to develop an understanding of community health assessment analysis. Meet with members of the community to establish partnerships, form coalition relationships, and explore available community resources. Assist in exchanging information with various organizations and agencies concerning health needs of the community and assist in assembling materials to be utilized. Gather health information for the public relative to the specialized program. Distribute health education materials by a variety of methods. Provide services according to the guidelines set by the Core Clinical Service Guide (CCSG) /Administrative Reference (AR). Collaborate with other public health team members in educating community members about specific health education initiatives within each county. Demonstrate an awareness of public service announcements (PSA) and assist in producing public service announcements for radio and television. Submit communication materials to assigned supervisor for approval. Collect and analyze data for health program planning needs.

Minimum Education, Training or Experience: Graduate of a college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree

Starting Salary: $18.07 per hour (5% increment added to salary upon successful completion of an initial six months performance probationary period.)

2. Contracted PT Interpreters

The Lake Cumberland District Health Dept. is accepting applications for Contracted PT Interpreters within the ten counties of the Lake Cumberland area.

General Duties Include: Provide accurate and culturally sensitive interpreting and translating services in a variety of settings, including one-on-one and group encounters during clinical appointments, home visits, and community outreach events; facilitate verbal communication in person, over the phone, and during virtual interactions to ensure Spanish-speaking clients understand and access public health services effectively; translate written materials such as medical forms, educational brochures, and public health documents between English and Spanish; assist with daily operations such as patient intake, follow-up communication, and program support tasks; work collaboratively with health department staff to support health education and disease prevention efforts; use standard office technology including computers, email, copy and fax machines, and translation tools; maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards in all interpreting and translation duties.

Minimum Education, Training or Experience: A high school diploma or its equivalent and one year experience in translation and interpretation of English and a required second language.

Education Substitution: Additional related education or certification(s) may substitute for the required experience.

3. HANDS Specialist I (Transcript Submission Required)

 The Lake Cumberland District Health Dept. is accepting applications for a full-time HANDS Specialist I based in Adair Co.

General Duties Include: Conduct parent visit assessment/survey within 30 days of receiving and reviewing prenatal or birth records to determine eligibility for early childhood education and family support services of infants and toddlers from birth up to three (3) years of age. Will conduct interviews to promote outreach activities in family homes or community setting to educate parents in coping techniques and to take an active role in accessing resources or assistance with referrals for appropriate education and nutrition of their child. May develop and distribute informational materials that meet program guidelines. Keep accurate logs of service visits, schedules and charting, prepare reports and analyses set forth in HANDS program policy and guidelines. Interpret laws, regulations, policies and procedures and provide administrative assistance or guidance to departmental staff, which may include but is not limited to; monitor, evaluate and participate in modifications regarding program requirements. Review records and reports submitted by program requests or agency staff and ensure compliance with federal and state law regulation and policies. May conduct ongoing home visitation on an as needed basis.

Minimum Education, Training or Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Nursing, Early Childhood Education or a Bachelor’s degree in a Social or Behavioral Science related field may also be considered with one (1) year experience performing case management

Education Substitution: A Master’s degree in Human Services may substitute for one (1) year of experience.

Experience Substitution: Associate degree in Nursing with licensure in Kentucky or a compact state and two (2) years of public health experience will substitute for education.

4. HANDS Family Support Worker I

The Lake Cumberland District Health Department is accepting applications for a full time Family Support Worker I based in Wayne Co.

General Duties include, but are not limited to:  Conduct regularly planned visits to establish a trusting rapport for eligible HANDS families; Assist parents with child development, parenting skills, health services and other needed resources identified at the initial assessment or during visits; Maintain confidentiality of program information obtained from home visits and exchanges while communicating with community and support service providers; Provide support to parents during the prenatal period and up to, but not inclusive of the child’s third birthday following the initial parent visit assessment; Facilitate family visitations that may take place in the client’s home or another community site, if justified; Monitor and document the progress of the parent and child(ren); Prepare and maintain case records which shall be documented with contacts, services needed, reports and progress; Confer with the Program Coordinator and/or Supervisor in cases involving potential collaboration with other service providers.

Minimum Education, Training or Experience:  High School Diploma or GED.

Special RequirementsMust be 18 years of age with reliable transportation, valid driver’s license and telephone accessibility Formal job training requirements must be successfully completed within 6 months after hire. Knowledge of assigned geographic areas and/or ability to locate participants and community resources

Starting Salary$13.50 per hour (5% increment added to salary upon successful completion of an initial six months performance probationary period.)

RN-Public Health Nurse I

LCDHD is accepting applications to establish a register for local health nurse positions within our 10-county service area.
