The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) is issuing a public health alert for frozen, dinosaur-shaped, ready-to-eat (RTE) chicken nugget products that may be contaminated with unsafe levels of lead.
FSIS is issuing this public health alert because the products may no longer be available for purchase, but could still be in consumers’ freezers. These items were shipped to Walmart locations nationwide. There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products.
The recalled product includes the lot code, establishment number, and “Best If Used By” date printed on the back of the bag:
Description | Net Weight | Lot Code | Best If Used By Date | Est. No. |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Great Value Fully Cooked Dino Shaped Chicken Breast Nuggets | 29 oz. (approx. 36 pieces) | 0416DPO1215 | FEB 10 2027 | P-44164 |
Consumers should not use the product even if it does not look or smell unusual. Lead contamination cannot be detected by sight, smell, or taste. Individuals who believe they may have consumed this product and are concerned about their health — particularly children under six years of age and pregnant women, who face the greatest risk from lead exposure — should contact their healthcare provider.
If you have the recalled product at home, please throw it away in a sealed container or return it to the place of purchase. Consumers with questions regarding the public health alert can contact John Patrick Lopez, Vice President, Strategy, Communications & Government Affairs, Dorada Foods, at john.patrick@lopezdorada.com.
Consumers with food safety questions can call the toll-free USDA Meat and Poultry Hotline at 1-888-MPHotline (1-888-674-6854) or send a question via email to MPHotline@usda.gov.
