The Lake Cumberland District Health Dept. is accepting applications for a full-time HANDS Specialist I based in McCreary Co.
General Duties Include: Conduct parent visit assessment/survey within 30 days of receiving and reviewing prenatal or birth records to determine eligibility for early childhood education and family support services of infants and toddlers from birth up to three (3) years of age. Will conduct interviews to promote outreach activities in family homes or community setting to educate parents in coping techniques and to take an active role in accessing resources or assistance with referrals for appropriate education and nutrition of their child. May develop and distribute informational materials that meet program guidelines. Keep accurate logs of service visits, schedules and charting, prepare reports and analyses set forth in HANDS program policy and guidelines. Interpret laws, regulations, policies and procedures and provide administrative assistance or guidance to departmental staff, which may include but is not limited to; monitor, evaluate and participate in modifications regarding program requirements. Review records and reports submitted by program requests or agency staff and ensure compliance with federal and state law regulation and policies. May conduct ongoing home visitation on an as needed basis.
Minimum Education, Training or Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Nursing, Early Childhood Education or a Bachelor’s degree in a Social or Behavioral Science related field may also be considered with one
Education Substitution: A Master’s degree in Human Services may substitute for the one (1) year of experience.
Experience Substitution: Associate degree in Nursing with licensure in Kentucky or a compact state and two
Starting Salary: $17.04 per hour (5% increment added to salary upon successful completion of an initial six months performance probationary period.)

The Lake Cumberland District Health Department is accepting applications for one (1) full time HANDS position. Based on experience and qualifications, the position can be either a Family Support Worker I, HANDS Specialist I or HANDS Public Health Nurse I. This position will be based in Taylor Co.
General Duties include, but are not limited to:
Family Support Worker I – Conduct regularly planned visits to establish a trusting rapport for eligible HANDS families; Assist parents with child development, parenting skills, health services and other needed resources identified at the initial assessment or during visits; Maintain confidentiality of program information obtained from home visits and exchanges while communicating with community and support service providers; Provide support to parents during the prenatal period and up to, but not inclusive of the child’s third birthday following the initial parent visit assessment; Facilitate family visitations that may take place in the client’s home or another community site, if justified; Monitor and document the progress of the parent and child(ren); Prepare and maintain case records which shall be documented with contacts, services needed, reports and progress; Confer with the Program Coordinator and/or Supervisor in cases involving potential collaboration with other service providers.

HANDS Public Health Nurse I – Must have RN license in Kentucky or compact state or provisional license in Kentucky, meeting all requirements of KRS 314.041 and approval to practice as Registered Nurse Applicant (RNA)
Special Requirements:
Must be 18 years of age with reliable transportation, valid driver’s license and telephone accessibility Formal job training requirements must be successfully completed within 6 months after hire Knowledge of assigned geographic areas and/or ability to locate participants and community resources

The Lake Cumberland District Health Department is currently accepting ongoing applications for upcoming full-time Health Environmentalist I positions.
General Duties Include: Inspects food establishments for compliance with state regulations pertaining to sanitation; performs regular inspections of tourist accommodations, schools, swimming pools and septic tanks sites to ensure compliance with state and local regulations pertaining to environmental health, this may include taking product samples and forwarding for testing. Secures water samples, investigates nuisance complaints and other duties related to environmental health; request assistance from supervisors in situations beyond his/her scope of training and experience. Interprets reports generated by the Environmental Health Management Information System (EHMIS)/Graphical Users Interface (GUI) system. Analyzes and interprets data regarding test results, inspections results, etc. and presents results to appropriate types of audiences.
Minimum Education, Training or Experience: Bachelor’s degree from a college or university with a minor or twenty-four (24) semester hours in environmental health, biological or physical science or registration as a Kentucky Environmental Specialist/Sanitarian under KRS 223.
Special Requirements: Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license. Note: an individual upon employment must become registered under the provisions of KRS 223 to remain a permanent employee per Administrative Regulations 902 KAR 8:080.
