2025 Dr. Hossein Fallahzadeh Public Health Hero Award nominations now being accepted
The nomination period is open for the 2025 Dr. Hossein Fallahzadeh Public Health Hero Award.
Nominees are accepted and reviewed for the following criteria:
Display exemplary leadership and diligence in promoting public health.
Have made remarkable contributions and support in fostering public health programs.
Work or actions will have impacted the community’s health in a positive way.
Must live and/or work in the Lake Cumberland District.
This award was first presented in 2022 to the late Dr. Hossein Fallahzadeh, a long-time surgeon in Somerset and board member for the Lake Cumberland District Board of Health. The award was then named in his honor.
Previous recipients include:
2024 Christy Stearns, M.S., Clinton County Family and Consumer Sciences Extension Agent
2023 Dr. Richard Miles, a Russell Springs physician for over 40 years.

Nominations must be submitted by February 28. The award will be presented in April during National Public Health Week.
