During 2019, the Lake Cumberland District Health Department and Monticello Banking Company partnered to offer a wellness promotion. An opportunity to complete a Health Risk Assessment (HRA) developed by the health department and located on their website at www.lcdhd.org was offered. At the end of the survey, participants were provided the chance to enter a prize drawing with a $1,000 first place and a $ 500.00 second-place award. The prize was sponsored by the Monticello Banking Company. Local McCreary resident Christy Carter filled out her profile, entered the contest and won $500.
The HRA is a free health informational tool that provides a snapshot of one’s overall health status and offers recommendations to improve one’s health. The HRA also generates a report that can be taken to a healthcare provider which details needed health screenings, vaccinations, and risk factors identified during the assessment. Shawn Crabtree, Health Department Director, states, “Kentucky ranks poorly in almost all health areas. It is important for our citizens to learn about their health status and to understand practical things that can be done to improve their general health.”
