The Diabetes educators are available to provide community presentations for diabetes prevention and control, teach self-management classes, as well as work with individuals on a one-on-one basis.

Jamie Lee is an Registered Nurse has been a Diabetes Educator with the Lake Cumberland District Health Department since February 2007 and Coordinator for the Diabetes Program since 2008. She became a Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) in December 2011. She is a member of the Kentucky Diabetes Network, and is a member of the Kentucky Diabetes Prevention and Control Program.


Jamie received her associate degree in nursing from Western Kentucky University in 1983. Her work experience includes two years of hospital med/surg. nursing, 4 years as a school nurse, one year in adult day health care, and 15 years in home health care. During Jamie’s tenure in home health care she held positions as Case Manager, Quality Assurance Nurse, Personal Care Supervisor, Patient Care Supervisor, and Staff Development Educator. Jamie’s office is located at the Lake Cumberland District Office in Somerset.

Destiny is a Registered Nurse and has worked as a Diabetes Educator with LCDHD since 2006. She is currently the Diabetes Educator for Adair, Casey, Green, Russell and Taylor Counties. She received her associate’s degree in nursing from Western Kentucky University in 2001. Destiny became a Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) in December 2011. She has worked in a hospital setting and physician’s office prior to her role as a diabetes educator. She is a member of the Kentucky Diabetes Network and the Kentucky Diabetes Prevention and Control Program. Her office is located at the Adair County Health Department.

Vicky is a Registered Nurse and has been in the Diabetes Education Program since June 2014. She is currently teaching Diabetes Self Management Education classes in Clinton, Cumberland, and Wayne counties. She is a member of Kentucky Diabetes Network and the Kentucky Diabetes Prevention and Control Program. Vicky was a Licensed Practical Nurse from 1987 until she received her Associates Degree in Nursing from Somerset Community College in 2010.  Vicky worked in home health for 9 years before she came to LCDHD in 2002 – working in the Clinic as well as the School Nurse program before transferring to the Diabetes Program.  Vicky’s office is located at the Clinton County Health Department in Albany.

Rebecca Baker is a registered nurse and has been in the Diabetes Education Program since July 2014. She is currently teaching Diabetes Self Management Education classes in McCreary and Pulaski counties. She is a member of the Kentucky Diabetes Network, and the Kentucky Diabetes Prevention and Control Program. She received her associate degree in nursing from Somerset Community College in May, 2012. Her work experience includes telemetry care nursing and LCDHD School Nurse Program prior to coming to the Diabetes Program. Rebecca’s office is located at the Pulaski County Health Department in Somerset.
