The Diabetes educators are available to provide community presentations for diabetes prevention and control, teach self-management classes, as well as work with individuals on a one-on-one basis.

Jamie Lee is an RN and has been a Diabetes Educator with the Lake Cumberland District Health Department since February 2007and Coordinator for the Diabetes Program since 2008.  She is a member of the American Association of Diabetes Educators, Kentucky Diabetes Network, and is a regional coordinator for the Kentucky Diabetes Prevention and Control Program.


Jamie received her associate degree in nursing from Western Kentucky University in 1983.  Her work experience includes two years of hospital med/surg. nursing, 4 years as a school nurse, one year in adult day health care, and 15 years in home health care.  During Jamie’s tenure in home health care she held positions as Case Manager, Quality Assurance Nurse, Personal Care Supervisor, Patient Care Supervisor, and Staff Development Educator. Jamie’s office is located at the Lake Cumberland District Office in Somerset.

Destiny is a Registered Nurse that works as a Diabetes Educator in Russell and Adair counties. She received her associate’s degree in nursing from Western Kentucky University in 2001. She has worked in a hospital and physician’s office prior to her role as a diabetes educator. She is a member of the Kentucky Diabetes Network and American Association of Diabetes Educators and a regional coordinator with the Kentucky Diabetes Prevention and Control Program. Her office is located at the Adair County Health Department.


LaCosta Carver, RN, BSN

LaCosta is a Registered Nurse and has been a Diabetes Educator with the Lake Cumberland District Health Department since September 2008. She is currently teaching Diabetes Self Management Education classes in Clinton and Cumberland counties. She is a member of Kentucky Diabetes Network and the Kentucky Diabetes Prevention and Control Program. LaCosta received her Bachelors Degree in Nursing from Eastern Kentucky University in 1999. Her work experience includes 4 years of Maternal/Newborn nursing at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital and 9 ½ years of home health nursing in Kentucky as well as Tennessee. LaCosta’s office is located at the Cumberland County Health Department in Burkesville.

Leslie Coffey is a registered nurse and has been a Diabetes Educator with the Lake Cumberland District Health Department since September 2007. Donnetta Tungate is a Registered Nurse and serves as the Diabetes Educator for Taylor and Green counties in Kentucky. She is a regional coordinator for the Kentucky Diabetes Prevention and Control Program.

Donnetta received her Associates degree in Nursing from Kentucky Wesleyan College in 1986 and her Bachelors of Science in Public Health from Campbellsville University in 2004. Her work experience includes over 20 years of nursing practice. She has worked in a variety of professional areas including critical care, home health, dialysis, cardiovascular and public health. Donnettas’ office is located at Taylor County Health Department in Campbellsville Kentucky.
